The most recent TEDxTallinn event took place in November 2026. As of now, the non-profit organization that has been organizing the events is in the process of closing down, and there is currently no active organizing team.
However, this does not mark the end of the TEDxTallinn story.
TEDx as a format is open to anyone who wishes to bring ideas to life within their community. If you feel inspired to revive TEDxTallinn, the opportunity is there. Previous organizers, are more than happy to share their experience and support new organizers with advice and guidance.
TEDxTallinn has been part of one of the world’s most influential grassroots movements, enabling the spread of ideas through locally organized events inspired by the globally renowned TED conference.
TED is a conference series that has been bringing together leading thinkers and doers from across disciplines since 1984, sharing ideas in the form of short, powerful talks. The TEDx program was created to extend this mission, allowing communities around the world to organize their own events.
TEDx events combine TED Talks and live presentations with the goal of sparking meaningful conversations and encouraging connection within local communities.
When TED launched the TEDx format in 2009, an enthusiastic group in Tallinn embraced the opportunity, and the first TEDxTallinn took place in November that same year. Over the years, the event has been led by many dedicated individuals, including Jannus Jaska, Oliver Kadak, Annika Tallinn, Elo Kiivet, and most recently Miina Saak and Signe Kadak together with a volunteer team. Members of the TEDxTallinn team have also contributed to organizing several related events, including TEDxTallinnWomen, TEDxLoodusele, TEDxToompea, TEDxTallinnaVangla, and TEDxYouth@Tallinn, as well as community screenings and salon-style gatherings. While the people involved have changed over time, the core values and purpose of TEDxTallinn have remained the same: a belief in the power of ideas and a commitment to providing a platform for ideas that can make the world a better place.
Following TED’s motto – “Ideas Worth Spreading” – TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a local, independently organized event that brings people together to share a TED-like experience.
A TEDx event combines TED Talks delivered via video with live speakers, creating an environment for deep discussion and meaningful connection within a smaller group. These local, independently organized events carry the TEDx label, where x = independently organized TED event. For many years, the main TEDxTallinn event took place annually, bringing together speakers from a wide range of fields — scientists and artists, thinkers and musicians, both well-known and emerging voices, from Estonia and beyond. The result was a rich kaleidoscope of ideas that inspired audiences to reflect, act, and bring their own ideas to life.
